Curriculum Vitae for Edward T. Herlihy


Ted Herlihy has been an aviation enthusiast most of his life.  His dad was a young aviator, and a command pilot in a B-17 during WWII.  His influence on Ted was compelling, beginning with balsa wood airplane models and sharing his love for flight.  As a high school freshman, Ted earned a varsity letter in springboard diving competition, and as a senior, was President of the Associated Student Body, and awarded the California Savings and Loan League's Outstanding Student Award. 

He earned his BA degree in economics from Claremont Men's College in 1967 and an MBA degree from the University of Southern California in 1969 where he attended on a two year H.B. Earhard Fellowship.  After his formal schooling, as a reserve officer in the U.S. Army, 1st Lieutenant Herlihy served as fraud investigator for the Army Signal Corps, Republic of Vietnam.  He was awarded the bronze star medal for meritorious service.  After the military, his ventures have included employment as a charter boat owner and captain, an assistant fire chief, a barnstormer in a vintage WWII biplane providing charity rides for worthy causes, and owner of several successful small businesses.  From 1989 to 1992, he was Board Chairman of Partners in Missions, a Christian faith-based organization building clinics and hospitals in Baja California.

 As a 1400 hour pilot, single engine land and sea, he has owned several vintage and antique aircraft.  Recently, he restored and flew a 1946 Piper 'Super-J' on straight floats from his home seaplane ramp on lake Pend Oreille, Sandpoint, Idaho.  Admitted to the National Aircraft Appraisers Association in 1998,  he has evaluated approximately 200 aircraft.  Information on the NAAA can be obtained from the web site at   This organization has been operational for more than thirty years.  His many years of experience in business and as an aircraft owner and pilot provide aircraft evaluations that are impartial, accurate and thorough. This attitude is brought to every appraisal job, knowing that his customers deserve the highest degree of professionalism.
